HandMade Rhythm lugged ashikos are simply tunable versions of the rope models. The shell construction and skin mounting materials and techniques are the same as the rope models, and the lugs make it easy to add or remove tension on the skin to suit the preferences of any player in any situation.

HandMade Rhythm Rope Tuned Ashikos are traditionally strung with the West African Mali weave using premium quality polyester rope and oversize solid steel rings. Each drum is individually hand tensioned and slowly brought up to pitch in the workshop. These drums are modern versions of the traditional Afro-Cuban \"freedom\" drums.
