Alexander K. Smith (aka Felton) has been making Ashiko drums since 1992 when he learned about drum making while studying furniture making in Gainesville Florida.

Alex founded Fiddleback Furniture Makers in Oregon in the mid 90's and makes a living creating unique pieces of furniture and objects d'art. He is also known to play a bit of music on his guitar and mandolin and he performs regularly in the Bend area as a solo or ensemble act.

Alex is devoted to precision in both design and assembly of wooden structures. A passion for musical sound lends itself to drum making and the drums seen here are built to the tightest tolerances so that the drums resonate with a pure tone.
