Michael Travis was raised in Southern California and eventually gravitated to the mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado where in 1993 he began to play music with a band that would become the String Cheese Incident. In doing so he has become “a pioneer in the art of modern improvisational jam-rock drumming. He is especially known for his ability to play both hand drums and the drum kit simultaneously.”
